Greater Wellington Regional Council spent almost 200-thousand dollars on lawyers to end a stoush over bus driver pay

Greater Wellington Regional Council spent almost 200-thousand dollars on lawyers to end a stoush over bus driver pay

The council got involved after the Tramways Union and NZ Bus failed to strike a deal for their collective agreement after months of negotiations.

The long-running employment dispute saw a strike and lockout.

Council chair Daran Ponter says they had to lead the charge in rebuilding the relationship, in a move he says is unprecedented.
