The Maritime Union suggests there is currently no clear plan around the Inter-island ferries

The Maritime Union suggests there is currently no clear plan around the Inter-island ferries

The Aratere will be under a number of investigations as it sits in Picton, after running aground on Friday night because of a suspected steering problem.

Maritime Union Spokesperson Victor Billot says the ferries are failing.

He suggests the Government will have to order new ferries at a higher cost than the original ones, as he believes there are no second-hand ones available.
