A competitive advantage for landlords - with rules for sleep-outs and sheds due to be slashed by the end of the year

A competitive advantage for landlords - with rules for sleep-outs and sheds due to be slashed by the end of the year

The Government's announced there'll soon be no boundary distance requirements, for detached buildings smaller than 10-square metres.

Under current rules, the distance must at least match their height.

The Property Investors Federation's Matt Ball says landlords can make their properties more attractive, with sleep outs, or a garage for tenants' cars.

He says they should take advantage of this, as rents are heading down, and tenants have a lot more choice.
