A mixed bag in Auckland Council's latest state of the environment report

A mixed bag in Auckland Council's latest state of the environment report

It shows vehicle-related pollution is continuing to decline and greenhouse gas emissions fell 9.5 percent between 2016 and 2023.

Native plant and bird populations are increasing in some areas, and coastal water quality is improving.

On the other hand, lake water quality is in decline and there's been a reduction in the amount of highly productive soil.

Stream and river health remain under pressure with widespread nutrient, faecal and metal contamination.
