    A Wellington city councillor is appalled at a proposed rates hike


    Documents for a long-term plan recommend rates increase 15.99 percent - instead of the 13.5 percent publicly consulted on.

    Councillor Fleur Fitzsimons says stinging people with an extra 2.5 percent after months of consultation just shows bad faith.

    She says somehow a hundred million dollars has been saved in insurance, and yet they're still proposing an extra 2.5 percent - which is unacceptable.
