Vaccination efforts in the Cook Islands are progressing at pace

Vaccination efforts in the Cook Islands are progressing at pace

As of Monday, about 80 per cent of Rarotonga's eligible population had received their first dose of the vaccine, with the total on track to reach 90 per cent by the end of yesterday.

Authorities say a new batch of vaccine is due to arrive from New Zealand this afternoon.

Those vials will contain enough vaccine to ensure all of the remaining eligible population on Rarotonga can receive their first dose.

Aitutaki is the next island in line to begin vaccination - which is earmarked to start no later than next Tuesday.
