Central Wellington retailers may be struggling to see the bright side of Black Friday sales, with traffic plans dampening the mood

Retail NZ says for those operating in Wellington's CBD there's a sense of gloom ... despite today being one of the busiest shopping days of the year.

Toy World franchise owner Phillip Bramley says plans by Let's Get Wellington Moving to remove cars from the CBD - will overshadow the day.

He says the plans would be great for Courtenay Place, but it will turn the Golden Mile into a ghost town.
