If you think you're paying more for a restaurant meal or takeaway...you're not wrong

Restaurant meals and takeaway food prices rose 5.3 percent in the year to April.

It comes as fruit and vegetables rose almost 10 percent and meat, poultry and fish rose 8.1 percent.

Auckland restaurateur Chand Sahrawat says wage increases in the supply chain have pushed up prices.

She says as everyone from the producer to the supplier increases prices - they have to one charge part of it and find cost efficiencies elsewhere.
