The decline in numbers of public servants is stalling -- after sharp cuts

The decline in numbers of public servants is stalling -- after sharp cuts

Data from the Public Service Commission shows the public service workforce shrank 4.2 percent in the year to December.

But in the December quarter, the workforce grew 0.2 percent -- adding 148 employees.

It follows major restructures to meet Government demands to reduce costs and downsize back-office functions.
