A site in Wellington's Happy Valley is set to be transformed into a new bus depot

A site in Wellington's Happy Valley is set to be transformed into a new bus depot

It's been bought by the regional council, in a push to secure the long-term continuity of Metlink bus services.

It takes possession of the one-hectare section in May next year, and plans for a depot to open there in mid-2028.

Transport Committee Chair Thomas Nash says by controlling depots, the council is removing barriers for new bus operators to enter the market.
