A sombre mood within the Breakers basketball club after losing a team-favourite player to a season-ending injury

American import forward Rob Baker will have surgery after tearing the ACL in his right knee in their win over Cairns at the weekend.

General manager Dillon Boucher says Baker's impact goes beyond the court.

The Breakers face second-place South East Melbourne across the ditch tomorrow night, sitting one spot outside the NBL playoff picture in seventh.
