    Wellington Phoenix football coach Giancarlo Italiano is stepping down with his head held high


    The 43-year-old fell on his sword after a 5-nil A-League rout at home by Auckland FC - a sixth straight loss in the Kiwi derby.

    But Giancarlo is pleased with his development of younger players and the type of football the Nix plays.
