Scepticism over whether the Government's vaping starter kit plan will really wean people off smoking

Scepticism over whether the Government's vaping starter kit plan will really wean people off smoking

It's supplying free kits to stop-smoking services nationwide from next week, as part of its bid to phase people out of cigarettes.

But the Asthma and Respiratory Foundation, says there needs to be a clear exit strategy for getting smokers-turned-vapers to quit vaping.

Chief executive Letitia Harding, says switching from one nicotine form to another is not the way to get to Smokefree 2025.

She says they may help for some people, but there's a lot of unanswered questions, and none of these products have been approved for smoking cessation.
