Leading health experts will be advising Waikato University on the establishment of the country's third medical school

Leading health experts will be advising Waikato University on the establishment of the country's third medical school

The uni's named an expert advisory board, with a range of health professors and leaders across different specialties.

It plans to have the Waikato Medical School operating by 2028.

Braemar Hospital Chief Executive Fiona Michel -- who is chairing the board -- says the school will help address chronic workforce shortages in primary care and rural communities.

The Government's announced a package of support for the school, backed up with philanthropic funds.
