A tertiary student has died from meningitis in Canterbury

Canterbury District Health Board has confirmed a young woman succumbed to meningococcal disease earlier this week.

Medical Officer of Health, doctor Ramon Pink, is expressing his condolences to her family.

He says it's a fast-moving illness, but there's no risk to the public in this case.
