Positive signs from an immunisation initiative -- but judging its impact is more complicated

In December, Health Minister Shane Reti announced 50 million dollars for Maori health providers over two years, to help lift jab rates - particularly for children and older people.
Data shows the lead provider had more than tripled its target by the end of June - delivering just over 33-thousand vaccinations.
Maori Paediatrician and National Immunisation Taskforce Chair Owen Sinclair says the question is whether it's going to priority groups.
He says if it's going to groups already well immunised, it's not going to change anything when it comes to population risk for disease.
