Police are asking for help after a suspicious fire at the Solway Showground in Masterton

At around 2am on Tuesday a person attempted to set fire to the Showgrounds' stand and main building.

The female toilets attached to the Showgrounds' main building caught fire - but a sprinkler system prevented significant damage.

A person was seen entering the toilets on CCTV described as slim, wearing a hooded top and a head torch.

Police would like to hear from anyone who could help identity anyone involved.
