    A man is in a critical condition, after an early morning assault in central Auckland


    Police say they were called to reports of an assault on Kitchener Street in the CBD, just before five o'clock this morning.

    A man was taken to hospital with critical injuries.

    Police say enquiries into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.
