Rotorua could soon have a freeze on new bottle stores and earlier cut-off times for bars

Rotorua could soon have a freeze on new bottle stores and earlier cut-off times for bars

Rotorua Lakes District Council will decide to consult on its updated alcohol policy tomorrow - as it looks to address alcohol harm in the community.

Its draft policy includes banning inner-city bars from selling alcohol past 2am and reducing the trading hours of off-licenses.

Council staff are expecting strong views if they consult the public - after receiving 600 responses to a survey on the topic.
