Urges for stronger crack downs on boy racer gatherings, following violent events in Levin and Palmerston North

Urges for stronger crack downs on boy racer gatherings, following violent events in Levin and Palmerston North

Five members of the public and two Police officers were injured on Friday night.

Police say diesel was set alight at an intersection, vehicles and people obstructed an ambulance from reaching an injured person, and physical attacks, fireworks and vehicles were used against officers.

Local MP Tim Costley says authorities can't always stop people acting dumb and dangerous - but they CAN send a message.

He says even one conviction for unruly road behaviour, could result in the offender's car being crushed.
