Police have discovered possible bullet holes in a window of a Whangarei home which was the target of suspected arson

Officers were called to the fire at the Raumanga Valley Road home around 6.30 yesterday morning.

Five people were asleep at the time and safely evacuated.

Detective Senior Sergeant Pilmer says when they returned this morning, two holes from a slug gun were discovered in one of the windows, which weren't there when the fire broke out.
