The Department of Internal Affairs is calling interference with the Police Minister's emails - inappropriate

The Department of Internal Affairs is calling interference with the Police Minister's emails - inappropriate

A damning Police watchdog report found numerous failures in how senior leaders, including the former Commissioner, dealt with allegations around former Deputy Commissioner of Police, Jevon McSkimming.

Minister of Police Mark Mitchell has also confirmed ex Commissioner Andrew Coster directed staff in his ministerial office to send emails on the matter to his own office, and not to the Minister or his staff.

Internal Affairs boss Paul James says its not appropriate for departments to withhold information from staff or ministers -- and people will be reminded of this.
