The safety of Dunedin's bus hub is under review

The safety of Dunedin's bus hub is under review

A multi-agency staff group has formed to address issues at the bus centre in Great King Street, following the fatal stabbing of a 16-year-old boy last year.

The hub is a hotspot for youth-related safety concerns.

A survey of 13-hundred Dunedin secondary school students found 45 percent don't feel safe in the inner city, and harassment of girls is rife.

A review of safety plans from cities in New Zealand and overseas is set to be discussed by the Dunedin City Council on Thursday.
