A lack of desexed dogs is causing vets to be overworked and shelters to reach full capacity

A lack of desexed dogs is causing vets to be overworked and shelters to reach full capacity

Dogs can have up to two litters a year which means more pressure on shelters who are already struggling.

SPCA National Desexing Programme Manager Rebecca Dobson says overpopulation will continue if owners don't book in their dog in.

She says back in 2020 there was 247,000 owned dogs that weren't desexed -- so it's only gotten worse.
