Police have revealed more information about a man dying after attacking police at Orere Point - in southeast Auckland

Police have revealed more information about a man dying after attacking police at Orere Point - in southeast Auckland

They say the man wielded a metal pole, not a samurai sword - as officers originally reported.

The man was tasered, pepper sprayed and targeted by a police dog, after fleeing in Papakura.

He was in a vehicle tied to an earlier aggravated robbery.

An officer's been discharged from hospital with a serious hand injury where the man bit him.

Police are asking anyone who may have filmed the incident not to share it.
