    Furry friends in Auckland need a couple of weeks of cuddles


    The SPCA's Mangere Centre is in desperate need of foster homes for 20 to 50 animals, including cats, rabbits and dogs.

    Support Services Manager Laura Millar says the average stay will be four to eight weeks so they can get used to being in a home environment.

    She says some of them are recovering from surgery, while some have just had a rough start to life -- and they need to learn how to be a family pet.
