An Auckland pastor is fighting to keep his job after he built a 200 seat church without planning approval and held mass in the dangerous building

The pastor and church in Auckland's Mangere Bridge were fined more than 80 thousand dollars for multiple Building and Resource Manage Act violations.

Reverend Sean Palala was personally fined seven thousand dollars.

The church is two million dollars in debt which some church-goers also blame Palala for.

Church elders will now determine whether the pastor will keep his job.
