A Wanaka restaurant will have to close its doors for four days next month, after admitting to serving alcohol to underage patrons last year

The Lake View Seafood Restaurant was given the punishment at a hearing in Queenstown earlier this month.

The ODT reports a controlled purchase operation was carried out in December - where two 17-year-old volunteers ordered a glass of wine and beer, and served them without being asked for ID.

Manager Ivy Chen has been suspended from running the restaurant for six weeks.
