NZ Food Safety has issued warnings after a number of products by the brand Over The Moon appear to have been taken from the Putaruru Landfill and then re-sold in the South Waikato town for well below retail price.
There are several affected cheeses with differing batch numbers.
Deputy-director general Vincent Arbuckle says they're working with Police.
He says it would be unlawful under the food act, but it also exposes the public to risk, so they'll be working with law enforcement closely.
