Julia Roberts sometimes wants to "cut all her hair off"

The 58-year-old star has admitted she often considers making drastic changes to her look, but hairstylist Serge Normant - who she's worked with for 33 years - is able to "gently" move her away from the bold ideas.

She told The Hollywood Reporter's Beauty issue: "Sometimes I do suggest things, and he just looks at me. Gently. With his eyes saying, 'No'.

"It usually involves me wanting to cut all my hair off!"

Over the last three decades, the pair have built up a strong bond, and she is able to put her style completely in his hands.

She added: "I trust Serge so completely that sometimes we don't even talk about the look."

They have become genuine friends too, which means Julia has desire to work with anyone else.

She said: "Serge is so gifted and can do absolutely anything with hair, so, lucky for me, there is no need to go elsewhere for anything.

"At this point, we are more of a family than

    co-workers."

Meanwhile, Julia previously joked in a chat with Notting Hill director Richard Curtis that the secret to her youthful looks was "pickling" her head for 18 hours every fortnight.

The mum-of-three also admitted she thinks she looked far younger at the peak of her movie career, saying in an interview for British Vogue: "Not to say I'm unchanged, because I did see a picture earlier of Tom Hanks and me from a movie, and we looked like we had been ironed."

When Richard told her the magazine's readers "will want to know whether or not you use any artificial methods to preserve your lustrous youth", Julia joked: "Pickling. I put my head in the jar every other Saturday for 18 hours. It does wonders. The smell is awful."

She then added: "No - serious answer. Good genes, leading a life that is fulfilling, and I have said this - and I say it usually as kind of a joke - but I do believe in the love of a good man."
