Jennifer Lawrence has credited a wild encounter with a modelling scout for her acting career

The 35-year-old star has recalled being a teenager walking through New York City on a trip with her mother when a talent scout called Daniel randomly stopped her in the street.

Speaking on the Good Hang podcast, she told host Amy Poehler how the man asked her mother if he could take Jennifer's photograph.

She quipped: "No sense of danger... If he had told us to meet him a hotel room, we one hundred percent would have."

Jennifer revealed the man then "took her picture on the street", and later landed interviews with modelling agencies after the random interaction.

However, she pointed out: "What was becoming really apparent was like, 'If you're a model, you're a model...

"Somewhere during those interviews, I decided that I would only sign with an agency that would also let me act."

Jennifer was inspired by watching Hillary Duff, and she admitted she would never have thought of pursuing acting if it hadn't been for her chance meeting with Daniel.

She said: "I don't think so. I don't think I would've been aware that that was possible."

Meanwhile, Jennifer revealed she has since seen the snap - including on a T-shirt Joe Jonas wore in concert once - but she "doesn't know what to do with it".

She joked: "I'm not going to print it out."

After landing a role in The Bill Engvall Show in 2007, she had her breakthrough film role in 2010's Winter's Bone.

From 2011 to 2019, she played Mystique in the X-Man franchise, while she will reportedly reprise her Hunger Games role of Katniss Everdeen in upcoming prequel Sunrise of the Reaping.
