Hailey Bieber's 2022 health scare prompted her to create Rhode

The 29-year-old model - who is married to pop star Justin Bieber - founded the popular skincare brand shortly after she suffered a mini stroke and underwent heart surgery.

Speaking on Jake Shane's Therapuss podcast, Hailey shared: "I think that situation made me a little bit extra hyper aware of my body, a little bit more nervous about things and staying on top of them.

"I've just always been really focused and fascinated on health, and it was also kind of what led me to want to do Rhode. My obsession with skincare also comes from my obsession with medicine."

Hailey opened up about her health scare back in 2022, when she was informed by doctors that she'd suffered a blood clot on her brain.

The model said on her YouTube channel at the time: "We were in the middle of talking and all of a sudden, I felt this really weird sensation that kind of like, travelled down my arm from my shoulder all the way down to my fingertips, and it made my fingertips feel really numb and weird."

Hailey initially tried to move her fingers to understand what was wrong. But when she tried to respond to a question from her husband, Hailey wasn't able to.

She shared: "Justin was like, 'Are you OK?' And I just didn't respond because I wasn't sure and then he asked me again, and when I went to respond, I couldn't speak.

"The right side of my face started drooping. I couldn't get a sentence out. Everything was coming out - not even jumbled - just like, couldn't get the words out."

Hailey and Justin both concluded she'd suffered a stroke. However, they were subsequently told that it was something else entirely.

The model - whose symptoms were only temporary - explained: "It's like having a ministroke.

"It definitely feels like having a stroke, except my body was able to resolve it pretty quickly and then I didn't have any more issues for the whole rest of the day and the whole rest of the time that I was in the hospital."
