Chloe Sevigny made a "subversive" nod to "Old Hollywood" in her Emmy Awards look

The 50-year-old actress - who was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie, for her role in Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story - walked the red carpet in a Saint Laurent long black gown with a thigh split and Tiffany + Co jewellery and adored the "drama and glamour" of her outfit

She told Vogue.com: "I was drawn to the silhouette of the dress immediately-there's a nod to Old Hollywood, but with something a little subversive underneath. The halter and sleeves creating a bit of tension between the structure and fluidity, which I love.

"The Tiffany pieces we selected to add a bit of drama and glamour to the overall look. They matched so perfectly, it was almost as though they could have been part of the original design."

Chloe loves to tell a story with her red carpet wear and praised her partnership with stylist Haley Wollens.

She said: "I've always loved fashion with a point of view-whether it's referencing the archives, or something more avant-garde.

"I'm inspired by pieces that somehow still feel personal.

"Haley has this amazing ability to balance respect for fashion history with a kind of irreverence that keeps everything current. She's very referential, which I love, and there's this intuitive trust between us. I feel like we're collaborators-not just playing dress-up."

The actress was honoured to have made the shortlist for the Emmy Award.

She said: "It means a lot. I've always been drawn to things I find interesting, challenging, or that have something to say, which this definitely did. And of course, any time you play a real-life person, it is a big responsibility.

"So, to be recognised by my peers for stepping into this world that was difficult, both emotionally and psychologically, but also aimed to give Kitty a modicum of decency and respect, feels very rewarding."
