Jenna Ortega has asked her stylist for "more practical" outfits after her racy Emmy Awards top

The 22-year-old star turned heads at the ceremony on September 14 when she stepped out in a Death Becomes Her-inspired Givenchy jewelled ensemble, which weighed "a good 20, 30 pounds at least".

Appearing on Jess Lucero's Plus One show, Jenna' stylist Enrique Melendez said: "You can't really modify something like that [because] it's a totally couture piece. It was meant to be.

"With this Givenchy look, she's like, 'Enrique, I love you, but can we please do something more practical next time?'

"That thing was digging into her poor collarbone."

Meanwhile, the stylist - who has worked with the Wednesday star since she was 14 years old - insisted the actress wasn't worried about potential wardrobe malfunctions.

He added: "She actually was like, 'Enrique, I'm not actually concerned about a slip, but I want to be respectful to the Academy, obviously.'

"I'm worried about a slip; we used proper tape and everything. It was more so our first time doing something this revealing at all."

Despite showing off some extravagant outfits on the red carpet, Jenna has a "super simple" approach to fashion in her everyday life.

Enrique recently told The Hollywood Reporter: "Jenna's personal style is super simple, super streamlined. She would wear the same thing if she could every single day.

"I tell her thank you, because a lot of times, it's just for me."

Earlier this month, Jenna's make-up artist Nirvana Jalalvand revealed her Wednesday look was inspired by Siouxsie Sioux, Sophia Loren and "street goths".

Jalalvand told PEOPLE: "I created this double winged look with a bit of blank space [at the corners] to open up the eye and hark back to that goth classic wing.

"It helped the shape of the eye blend in nicely with the mask that she wears to give that raven look ...

"[I] looked at Siouxsie Sioux and at what street goths are doing with their make-up and reined it in for a softer goth version ... [as well as Sophia Loren who] always had an incredibly structured wing liner."
