Prince William made a secret visit to the Doctor Who set last month

The 43-year-old royal made a trip to Cardiff's Bad Wolf Studios in his role as president of BAFTA, where he got an in-depth look inside the TARDIS, as well as touring the set of upcoming BBC period drama The Other Bennet Sister

During the trip, the Prince of Wales also spent time with recipients of the Prince William Bursary, as well as primary school students taking part in a Screen Alliance Wales (SAW) programme.

Bad Wolf Sudios' chief ex ecutive Jane Tranter said: "It was a complete joy to show Prince William around Bad Wolf. We are so incredibly proud of the outreach work being done by Allison Dowzell and the team at Screen Alliance Wales, and for Prince William to help highlight the work being done at the studios means a great deal. He was introduced to trainees from a wide range of departments, and it was fantastic to see him take such an interest in the new generation of TV creatives."

Pictures of William's visit were released ahead of the BAFTA Cymru Awards on Sunday (05.10.25), which recognise Welsh talent in the worlds of film and TV.

The prince recorded a message for the ceremony in which he hailed the UK's "world-renowned" talents and highlighted the role of BAFTA's bursaries.

He said: "The screen arts are a vital part of our cultural landscape, enriching both the UK's storytelling heritage and our economy. Our talent pipeline is world-renowned. And, whilst talent is everywhere, all too often opportunity is lacking.

"And that's where BAFTA's bursary programme plays an important role in supporting the next generation of talent, giving young people vital support to get that crucial first step on the career ladder.

"These bursaries are used to pay for training courses, equipment, relocation expenses, and much more - the essentials without which talented people can be locked out of a career in the screen arts.

"Here in Wales, we have more than 50 bursary recipients. As President of BAFTA I'd like to say a huge thank you to our partners Ffilm Cymru Wales and Screen Alliance Wales, and to everyone who has so generously supported the BAFTA Bursary programme"

William launched his eponymous bursary in 2022 to support those who wouldn't be able to pursue careers in the industry due to financial reasons.
