Dolph Lundgren spoke about his cancer diagnosis because he didn't want other patients to feel "alone"

The 67-year-old actor was diagnosed with kidney cancer back in 2015, and despite overcoming his troubles, Dolph doesn't have any regrets about sharing the news with the public

Speaking to Extra, Dolph explained: "I feel great now. I had surgery. I was supposed to be gone after five years ... been cancer-free now for three years.

"I thought it was really nice to speak about it and try to just make people feel like they're not alone."

Dolph also leaned on his now-wife, Emma Krokdal, for support amid his health troubles.

The Hollywood star - who married Emma in 2023 - shared: "Emma has been fantastic. I mean, without her, I don't know if I would have made it.

"She's also much younger than me, so there's a natural optimism. It's hard for them to think in negative terms."

In late 2024, Dolph announced that he was "cancer-free" after a "rough ride".

The actor was told in 2020 that the cancer spread to his lungs, spine, liver and stomach - but he managed to overcome the illness and he provided a health update from his hospital bed as he prepared to have lung ablation treatment, which uses intense heat or cold to destroy any lasting signs of cancer.

Dolph - who is, perhaps, best known for playing Ivan Drago in the Rocky film franchise - said: "Alright, here I am. I'm about to go in and get rid of that last dead tumour. Since there are no cancer cells in my body anymore, I guess I'll be cancer-free so I'm looking forward to this procedure.

"Lung ablation, that's what I'm doing. It's been a rough ride and it really taught me how to live in the moment and to enjoy every moment of my life."

The movie star captioned the video clip: "Health update - finally cancer free with gratefulness and excitement for a bright future. Thanks for all your support always. (sic)"
