Zooey Deschanel is feeling "a lot of pressure" with planning her and fiance Jonathan Scott's wedding

The 45-year-old actress has been sorting out the arrangements for their big day since the 47-year-old TV personality popped the question at Edinburgh Castle, Scotland, in August 2023.

But Zooey - who announced their engagement in August that year, a week after confirming that she and her 53-year-old ex-husband, film producer Jacob Pechenik, were divorcing - is struggling to nail a location for their nuptials that meets the high quality of the Property Brothers star's interior designs without breaking the bank.

On the latest episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, host Alex Cooper, 31, asked Zooey: "Are you wedding planning?"

Zooey - who told People earlier this month that she and Jonathan are in "not in a rush" to walk down the aisle because they have been together since 2019- replied: "Yes, but it's really like a lot of pressure because he designs incredible spaces, and I'm like, 'There's no space worthy of such a wedding.'

"It's really hard to find that's not like a gazillion dollars."

Alex got married to 41-year-old film producer Matt Kaplan in April 2024 during an intimate ceremony at a beachside resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico.

At the time, she told British Vogue that wedding planning for her was "a dream" because her spouse "handled almost everything" to ensure their big day went "perfectly" as Matt's "specialty is planning and visualising and bringing things to life".

And Alex - who also said she "contributed where I could - like what flavour the cake would be" - agreed with Zooey that wedding planning is stressful.

Alex - who, with Matt, agreed from the start that they wanted their nuptials to feel like a holiday for their family and friends, as opposed to a formal wedding - said: "I really loved that my husband took such part in the planning, if not like really helped do it because I was like, 'I don't want to do this on my own.'

"And again, to each their own, there are some women that are like, 'I'm doing this whole thing, but like I really wanted my husband to plan it.'

"And we went through all these different locations and all the things, and then we eventually found what we wanted to do, and it was perfect, but it is very stressful.

"So you're going to figure it out."

Zooey - who wed ex-husband Jacob in Austin, Texas, in June 2015, shortly before their daughter Elsie, 10, was born - said she wanted her and Jonathan's wedding to be memorable.

The New Girl alum - who married her 49-year-old former husband, singer Ben Gibbard, in a venue reportedly by Elliott Bay, Washington, in September 2009, and divorced in 2012 - said: "We've both been married before, right?"

The Merv star - who referenced Jonathan's previous marriage to Kelsy Ully - continued: "So, I'm like, this [wedding] has to be the most fun."

Zooey also has an eight-year-old son called Charlie with Jacob.
