Concerns Auckland can't afford to hike up its public transport prices

Concerns Auckland can't afford to hike up its public transport prices

Auckland Transport's planning a fare increase of up to 35 cents for around half of all bus and rail passengers.

But Greater Auckland Director Matt Lowrie warns it risks putting passengers off public transport.

He says we need more people on buses and trains - to tackle climate change and congestion.

Lowrie is urging the Government to invest more money into Auckland Transport, to keep prices down.
