New tech will one day replace chalking tyres to catch out parking offenders

New tech will one day replace chalking tyres to catch out parking offenders

Sensors are already being introduced in Christchurch charging stations to see if electronic vehicle drivers are parking too long - and if more stations are needed.

City Council programme head, Michael Healy, says they're looking at options in the long term for public parking.

He says sensors, cameras and emerging radar and light detection technologies can detect if car parks are occupied.
