A Palmerston North boy racer has been sentenced to nine months home detention, for his involvement in the death of a teenage girl

A Palmerston North boy racer has been sentenced to nine months home detention, for his involvement in the death of a teenage girl

Open Justice reports 18-year-old Jack Greer was racing another driver, reaching speeds of more than 140-kilometres per hour, before the other driver lost control and crashed.

16-year-old Olivia Hintz was in the car that crashed, and died at the scene.

The driver suffered a brain injury and was also sentenced.

Greer was also found guilty for his participation, and ordered to speak at his former high-school, to discourage street racing.
