The Tactix know when it rains - it pours

The Tactix know when it rains - it pours

The Canterbury netball side were without tall timber Ellie Bird in their 47-45 ANZ Premiership loss to the Southern Steel, with Bird recovering from a head knock.

Replacement shooters Jess Prosser and Hannah Glen are also out with injury, leaving 30-year-old doctor Kate Grant and 17-year-old Howick College student Amelia Walmsley to fill the gaps.

Coach Marianne Delaney-Hoshek admits the situation wasn't ideal, but the newbies slotted in well.

It's not yet known whether Bird will be fit to play against the Magic on Monday in Nelson.
