It's another freezing morning for many

Middlemarch in Otago is New Zealand's coldest area, dropping to minus 11 degrees this morning.

Motorists travelling on State Highway 8 between Twizel and Tekapo are being advised to take extra care due to icy conditions.

Dunedin correspondent Callum Proctor says for some it's the third morning of sub zero temperatures in a row.

He says Mosgiel has reached minus eight and in Queenstown a nippy minus four.
