A subtropical low's pelting the upper North Island with downpours and strong wind gusts

A subtropical low's pelting the upper North Island with downpours and strong wind gusts

Northland and the Coromandel are under a heavy rain warning and strong wind watch, with power out to more than 15-hundred homes - and multiple roads closed.

Auckland and Tairawhiti also have similar warnings and watches.

The Transport Agency is urging motorists drive with care in these regions - and wind warnings apply on Auckland's Harbour Bridge.

MetService meteorologist Alec Holden says the weather will push south today, and the low should dissipate by tomorrow.
