New South Wales Premier Chris Minns, has warned the threat of ex-tropical cyclone Alfred is far from over

New South Wales Premier Chris Minns, has warned the threat of ex-tropical cyclone Alfred is far from over

Over a quarter of a million people are without power, across the north of the state and parts of the Gold Coast -- reportedly the largest outage in a decade.

The town of Dorrigo has also seen around 262 millimetres of rain, with Lismore seeing 132 millimetres.

Minns says despite the downgrade in the storm, they can't get complacent.

He says rivers are full, rain is expected to keep falling in the coming days, and wind conditions are very high and extreme.
