Recent heavy rain around the country is good - especially for farmers and growers

Emergency services had up to 50 weather related call-outs around Auckland, Northland and Waikato overnight.

Weather warnings had also been in place for parts of the South Island.

However WeatherWatch's Phil Duncan says the north can expect another dry spell expected from the end of this week.

He says that won't help Auckland - where dam levels are at less than 56 per cent, at a time when they're usually almost 80 per cent full.
