Wild weather is on the way for the deep south

MetService has issued a severe weather warning on Monday for rain in western parts of the lower South Island, including the Canterbury and Otago headwaters.

An orange warning's been issued for Fiordland, with up to 100 millimetres expected.

MetService says it may cause streams and rivers to rise rapidly.

Surface flooding and slips are also possible and driving conditions may be hazardous.
