Relentless rainfall in Otago has highlighted the need for infrastructure improvements

The wettest day in over a century caused flooding, slips, road closures, and a state of emergency declaration from Friday.
Skies have now cleared as recovery continues.
Dunedin Mayor Jules Radich says system improvements since the 2015 floods helped, but there is room for more.
He says with more rain events likely, more and better pumps are needed.
Radich says South Dunedin is a bowl and accumulates water, and this must be fixed.
Water conservation and boil notices remain throughout parts of the city. 10-06-24 1333
