    England test cricket captain Ben Stokes has been ruled out for the remainder of the northern summer with a torn hamstring


    The 33-year-old suffered the injury while batting for the Northern Superchargers in The Hundred competition at the weekend and was later seen on crutches.

    Ollie Pope is set to step up and lead the side for the three matches against Sri Lanka starting in a week.

    Stokes is expected back for the first test against Pakistan from October 7.
