Highlanders coach Jamie Joseph is feeling for his players after a tough 24-20 defeat by the Hurricanes in their Super Rugby clash in Wellington

Highlanders coach Jamie Joseph is feeling for his players after a tough 24-20 defeat by the Hurricanes in their Super Rugby clash in Wellington

Leading 20-17 in the final moments of the contest, Hurricanes halfback Cam Roigard scored under the posts on the last play of the game to steal victory.

Joseph says his side deserved to be rewarded for their efforts.

It's the sixth game the Highlanders have lost by 7 points or less this season.

The Crusaders are back up to second on the ladder after a 48-33 win over the Waratahs in Sydney.

The Red and Blacks ran rampant with five first half tries to lead 31-7 at the break.
