New Zealand's sporting sisters have been doin' it for themselves again with the Lonsdale Cup

New Zealand's sporting sisters have been doin' it for themselves again with the Lonsdale Cup

The world champion Silver Ferns have been awarded the prize at the Olympic gala dinner in Auckland.

It's presented to the New Zealand athlete or team that demonstrates the most outstanding contribution to an Olympic or Commonwealth sport in a given year.

The last men to receive the gong were Eric Murray and Hamish Bond in 2012.

Dame Valerie Adams, Lydia Ko, Lisa Carrington and the Black Ferns sevens have shared it around since.

Netball New Zealand chief executive Jennie Wyllie says times have changed in the past year since Noeline Taurua became coach.
